Rangers arrest two political workers
The law enforcing agency also apprehended another party worker from Nawabshah
HYDERABAD/KARACHI:
Two suspects believed to be affiliated with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were arrested during a targeted raid conducted by the Rangers at Rafa-e-Aam Society in Malir. The Rangers were provided with information regarding the presence of the two suspects by another MQM worker, Farhan alias Mullah, who had been arrested before. The identity of the suspects is yet to be disclosed. The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for questioning.
The Rangers also arrested another worker of the MQM, Dr Naeem Rajput, in Nawabshah district during a raid on Saturday night. Rajput is MQM's sector D incharge and was a former union council nazim, reported the party sources.
The suspect was sitting on a road when the Rangers arrested him, said MQM Nawabshah zonal incharge Abdul Majeed, in a press statement. The Rangers also removed Khidmat-i-Khalq Foundation's posters and pamphlets for the collection of animal hides from various parts of Nawabshah, he added.
Rajput had also submitted nomination papers to contest the upcoming local government elections, said Majeed. However, the police or Rangers officials did not confirm this.
Separately, Rangers claim to have arrested nearly 22 suspects during ongoing targeted raids and operations in parts of the metropolis.
