Fast And Furious: Attack on polio workers foiled

JAMRUD: Khasadar officials foiled an attack on polio workers at a basic health unit (BHU) in Ali Masjid area of Jamrud, Khyber Agency Saturday morning. A seven-day polio drive was under way in Jamrud tehsil. Farman, a part of the campaign, said they had gathered at Ali Masjid BHU in the morning to prepare for the day’s vaccination efforts when two men barged into the hospital and rushed towards them. “One of the men took out a pistol but a khasadar force soldier standing nearby caught him and managed to disarm him,” said Farman. Khasadar officers arrested the culprit, Salim Manyakhel, and shifted him to an undisclosed location for further investigation. Salim’s accomplice, however, managed to escape the crime scene.
