FAISALABAD: A man was shot dead and his friend received several injuries after some men opened fire at them near Saleemi Chowk on Thursday. A police spokesperson said Ali Butt, owner of a pan shop at Saleem Chowk, and Umar Farooq used to be friends but had developed differences a few days ago. On Thursday, Ali Butt and some accomplices cornered Farooq and shot at him, police said. Farooq died at the spot and Abdul Basit, his friend, received bullet injuries. He was taken to Allied Hospital where doctors treating him said his condition was critical. The suspects managed to flee. Police said they had registered a case against the suspects.
