PARACHINAR/ JAMRUD:

Tribal elders and leaderships of almost all political parties expressed their support for the proposed Fata Reforms Bill which was submitted by parliamentarians before the National Assembly.

JUI-F leader Maulana Syed Kabir Afridi, PPP’s Hazrat Wali Afridi, ANP’s Manzoor Afridi, JI’s Zarghon Afridi, PML-N’s Kalim Khan, QWP’s Asad Khan, PTI’s Fakhruddin and Nawab Sher and tribal elders Malik Pervez and Maulana Noor Mirza Afridi held a joint emergency press conference on Wednesday.

All political leaders and tribal elders said they were in favour of the bill, adding they stand united with parliamentarians from Fata for the rights of the tribespeople.

They said the FCR was a black law and against both Islamic and human rights customs. They also demanded the elimination of articles 246 and 247 in Fata and extending the jurisdiction of superior courts to the tribal belt. They added the merger of Fata with K-P will automatically bring the region into the mainstream.

Meanwhile, Awami National Party stalwarts from Kurram Agency welcomed the decision of parliamentarians to move a bill in the National Assembly to merge Fata with Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. A meeting of party leaders was held on Wednesday in Parachinar, headquarters of Kurram Agency. ANP’s regional general secretary Gulzar Bangash, Sharafat Ali Jan and Aun Ali addressed participants and appreciated the move by Fata MNAs. They said the parliamentarians conveyed the wishes, problems and expectations of tribespeople.

Meanwhile, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Secretary General Maulana Shujaul Mulk visited the tribal agency for meetings with party leaders. He addressed party stalwarts assembled at the hujra of Maulana Habibur Rahman Alisherzai.
