LAHORE:

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday turned down objections raised against the nomination of former speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for by-election in NA-122 of Lahore. Similarly all objections against PTI candidate Abdul Aleem Khan have also been rejected.

Both candidates have now been endorsed for by-elections in NA-122. According to details, all objections raised by PTI and Awami Tehreek against Ayaz Sadiq’s candidature were rejected by ECP. This seat fell vacant after an election tribunal de-seated Ayaz Sadiq while the polling for the by-election will be held on October 11.

It was objected that the expenditures of the former Speaker have not been in line with his income. Further objections were that the election tribunal had ordered him to pay 2.3 million rupees, which was due upon him. The amount remained unpaid due to which he could not meet the parameters of Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.
