KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Functional's leader Syed Ali Bux aka Pappu Shah joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Monday evening

Bux was one of the die-hard opponents of PPP and his inclusion into the party is assumed to give PPP the strength to oppose former home minister, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza.

Bux has been a minister twice before and contested elections against Mirza's son, MPA Barrister Hasnain Mirza. Bux was believed to be one of the main opponents of the PPP in Badin. His wife and former senator Bibi Yasmeen Shah also joined the party.

"PPP is the oldest people's party," said Bux after joining the party. He said that he has joined the PPP to make it stronger.

The party position will be stronger in Badin as Pappu Shah has joined it, said Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. "He is a good person." He ruled out any dialogue with Mirza saying that he has crossed all limits, he added.

Political concerns

Shah criticised the raids and inquiries of federal investigating agencies, saying NAB and FIA were not dealing with Sindh properly. "The anti-corruption department exists in the province," he said. The federal institutions should not interfere in provincial matters without prior consent, he added.

"I am a political leader not an administrator," said Asif Ali Zardari's sister Faryal Talpur rejecting corruption charges against her. "I deal with party matter not administrative ones," she added. The people of Punjab have showed more attachment towards PPP and its chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari than the people of Sindh, she claimed. "Bilawal went to Punjab on the invitation of the people of Punjab."
