Zoheb Hassan releases ‘Always on my Mind’
New album also contains the last track recorded by Nazia Hassan
KARACHI:
Having kept his solo career in the dark for almost a decade, Zoheb Hassan, the uncrowned prince of Pakistani pop is set return to the musical fold with his album Signature. The singer recently released the first single from the album titled Always on my mind.
Clarifying reports about the release of the album, Zoheb explained that the album is expected to release in a month’s time. “We have prepared a roll-out plan and would be releasing three music videos prior to the release of Signature,” Hassan told The Express Tribune.
According to the singer, the album has been in works for around a decade and a half now, stating that he had started working on it during Nazia Hassan’s lifetime. “Signature actually contains the last track that Nazia [Hassan] sung. Unfortunately she fell ill and plans for an album were put on hold.”
Zoheb, who shot to fame as part of the well-known duo of Nazia and Zoheb during the 80’s and 90’s, revealed that Nazia had sung alternate versions of Koi Nahi, Disco Deewane and Boom Boom — all three of which have been sampled into one song in Signature.
Expected to release after Eidul Azha, Signature has been produced in collaboration with EMI Pakistan and Sa Re Ga Ma (in India), with the track being recorded “all over the world.”
Talking about the content of Signature, Hassan is sure that the audiences will definitely get to hear something new and different from the singer. “The sound of signature is more soulful and is not the bubble-gum pop that people have expected to hear from me”.
“The album revolves around my experiences and all that I and my family have experienced over the last 10 years or so,” he added.
In an earlier interview, Hassan had spoken about how artistes like Stereo Nation and DJ Swami will also be featuring in his album with Fuzon’s frontman Immu also contributing to two songs.
