D I KHAN:

Residents of DI Khan took to the streets on Sunday over prolonged power outages in the city and unfair fines imposed on them.

A large number of protesters shouted slogans against Water and Power Development Authority, saying they had faced prolonged load-shedding for at least 16 hours every day. Many of them also complained of low voltage and frequent tripping. They also claimed Wapda was imposing fines on them.

Members of Markazi Anjuman-e-Tajran DI Khan, newly elected nazims and councillors participated in the protest. The protesters marched through various markets and bazaars and eventually held a sit-in at Town Hall.

Addressing the protesters, Advocate Muhammad Hanif Pipa, a newly elected district member said political parties are hand in glove with Wapda officials.

The protesters urged high-ranking officials to take immediate notice of the matter. They threatened to hold a sit-in outside the Wapda office in DI Khan if their demands are not addressed.
