Faulty Pieces: Petition against furniture proprietor

Petitioner Muhammad Ramazan told the court that he had purchased furniture worth Rs300,000 from Shafi Islam

LAHORE: A consumer court on Saturday issued a notice to the proprietor of a furniture shop in connection with a petition seeking Rs500,000 in damages for allegedly selling defective pieces.  Petitioner Muhammad Ramazan told the court that he had purchased furniture worth Rs300,000 from Shafi Islam of Shahdara area for his daughter’s dowry. Ramazan said they had discovered cracks in the bed and dining table after acquiring the furniture. He said he had approached Islam on this account in vain. He asked the court to direct Islam to pay him Rs500,000 in damages.
