Academic milestone: 60.61 per cent pass Lahore board intermediate exam

The government has allocated adequate resources to provide necessary facilities at educational institutes, Food Minister Bilal Yasin said on Saturday.


He was addressing a ceremony held at Alhamra Hall to distribute prizes among position-holders of the 2015 annual intermediate examination of the Lahore Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).

Out of 152,981 candidates, 92,720 passed the exam, a success rate of 60.61 per cent.

The first, second and third position holders were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals and cash prizes of Rs20,000, Rs15,000 and Rs10,000 respectively. Yasin praised the students and their teachers. The top student overall was also given a laptop.

The Lahore board also announced its supplementary examination schedule. The exam will start from October 23. Candidates can submit admission forms with regular fee until September 21; with double fee till September 29; and with triple fee till October 2.

Girls bagged the top three positions in the Faisalabad board. The results were announced at a ceremony at the BISE Auditorium, Faisalabad. MNA Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari was the chief guest.

Fatima Usama of Gojra’s Jinnah College for Women took the overall first position with 1,041 marks. Rabea Mazhar of Chenab College for Women in Jhang stood second with 1,034 marks. Hafizah Sahfaq Yusuf of Punjab College for Women secured 1,024 marks and took the third position.

As many as 45,983 students of 83,766 candidates passed the exam. The pass percentage was 54.89 per cent.

In Multan, boys surpassed the girls. Muhammad Mohaymin Ali of City Science Higher Secondary School took the overall first position, scoring 1,046 marks. Usama Ali Cheema of Punjab College of Information Technology, Rasheedabad, and Ahmed Jamil of Nishat College Lodhi Colony shared the second position with 1,042 marks.

Hamza Awais of Punjab College bagged the third position by obtaining 1,038 marks. A prize distribution ceremony was organised at Multan Arts Council.

In Muzaffargarh, Baran Shafqat of Punjab Public Higher Secondary School took the first position by securing 1,060 marks.

Saqib Ameen of Government Post Graduate College, Muzaffargarh, took the second position with 1,046 marks. Noor Fatima of Punjab Girls College Layyah and Mushayyada Fatima of Government College for Women Dera Ghazi Khan took the third position by securing 1,040 marks.

In Sargodha, Muhammad Haris of ILM College for Boys took the first position, obtaining 1,040 marks. Ayesha Ghani of ILM College for Commerce for Women stood second with 1,030 marks. Aqsa Asif of Punjab College for Women Sargodha stood third with 1,028 marks.

As many as 37,079 candidates had taken the exam, of which 21,728 passed. The pass percentage was 58.59 per cent.
