AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has challenged his Inter counterpart Roberto Mancini to a derby wager, and it's all for a good cause.

Mihajlovic proposed that the winner of the upcoming Milan derby, and other future clashes between the two sides, would donate money to a charity which will be mutually chosen by both the clubs.

However, the Milan boss wished that the funds raised at this weekend’s derby be donated to help the refuges during the ongoing migrant crisis.

Writing in La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Milan chief said: "There is an issue that has existed for several years and that has become an even more pressing concern over the past few days: migrants.

"Men, women, children, multitudes of desperate people that are fleeing from war, genocide, hunger and poverty.

"It is a problem that particularly affects my heart because I have lived through the same thing in my country, when the civil war overturned the former Yugoslavia.

"Even my parents and a lot of my family members were migrants fleeing the war. They were lucky in the face of tragedy as they had a child or parent that was able to help them, house them and help them move.

"I helped, as much as I could, people who I had never seen before. I no longer remember their names, but I remember the suffering hidden behind their eyes. Eyes that said more than a thousand words could.

"Almost all those who flee and look for help do so out of desperation and I know how difficult it is for entire families to move, for men and women to rebuild their lives after 50 or 60 years.

"I don’t want to talk about European politics, or analyse the reasons why states are not able to welcome everyone.

''I don’t want to start debates, as I am only a football coach, but there are groups in Milan that help people going through these dramas and who need help.

“We will pick one. It is a public appeal to give a hand and do more than what we already do privately.

"Whoever wins the derby will pay up.

"Mancio, are you with me?"

And Mancini, who played alongside the Serb during his time at Sampordia before bringing him as assistant during his first spell as Inter manager, accepted the wager.

"I accept," the former Italy international declared, as reported by Goal.com.

"And it will be me who pays!"
