KARACHI: MNA Rashid Godil, the injured leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), was discharged from the hospital on Friday afternoon, almost three weeks after surviving an attack near his home.

The doctors of Liaquat National Hospital (LNH), where he was admitted, allowed Godil to be released from the hospital a few days back but the political leader delayed leaving the facility till Friday due to security reasons.

"He is improving and in very good condition," said the spokesperson of the hospital, Anjum Rizvi. He said Godil's wounds were healing fast but he would have to visit the hospital for periodic check-ups according to his doctor.

Godil seemed very fit as he walked himself to his vehicle when he was being discharged from the hospital.

Earlier, in a video posted on social media by his party leader, Syed Ali Raza, Godil thanked people who prayed for his recovery. "I am thankful for all the Pakistanis who prayed for my health," Godil spoke in a voice that was little louder than a whisper, suggesting that he has yet to fully recover from his ordeal.

His car came under attack in Bahadurabad near his home on August 18. Five bullets pierced his body, including one to his jaw and one to the chest. His driver succumbed to the bullet wounds.
