Police says a truck collided into a bus as its brakes failed

CHAKWAL, PUNJAB: At least six people were killed and 20 injured in a road accident on the motorway near Salt Range in Chakwal on Friday, Express News reported.

"A bus collided with a truck killing six people, including a child, and injuring 20 others,” motorway police said. “The passenger bus was on its way to Lahore from Rawalpindi whereas the truck was on its way to Lahore from Kallar Kahar.”

"The accident occurred because the truck's brakes failed," the police official added.

Rescue teams immediately transported the injured to hospitals in Chakwal and Bhalwal. Five people killed in the accident were identified as Abu Bakr, Yasir Ali, Ahmad Saeed, Nadeem and Arshad.

On Thursday, four men were injured in a collision between a car and two motorcycles on Peshawar Road. The incident took place near Rawalpindi Saddar, when a speeding car hit one motorcycle, which subsequently crashed into another motorbike.

The four injured men aboard the two motorcycles were identified as Naveed, Hamza, Irfan and Arslan. The injured men were taken to the district headquarters hospital where they were stated to be in stable condition. Further investigation is under way.
