Overhaul: ‘District govt will increase literacy’
This is a commendable achievement as we encountered a diverse menu of problems
HARIPUR:
The district government in Haripur will effectively use its resources to promote literacy in the province. This was said by Haripur District Nazim Adil Islam during a conference organised by Alif Ailaan. The event was aimed at discussing what can be done to boost education standards in the district. “The current literacy rate in Haripur is 63%,” he said. “Although this is a positive sign, we will try to increase it to 90% during our tenure.” According to Islam, the government is also taking a series of steps to improve the quality of education at schools which were previously deprived of basic facilities. Also speaking on the occasion, Assistant DEO Qazi Shaheen said the literacy rate in Haripur is comparatively high. “This is a commendable achievement as we encountered a diverse menu of problems,” he said. “So far, the education department has provided adequate funding to government schools.”
