Louis van Gaal has revealed that Manchester United are always quoted a premium for any player they are interested in.  And similar was the case in the Anthony Martial deal where the club had to pay a ‘ridiculous’ amount to secure the services of the 19-year-old.

The manager however insists that the deal was done for his successor and the next manager of Manchester United, Ryan Giggs. This has come in as confirmation that Van Gaal will bow out by the end of his three year contract and his understudy, Ryan Giggs, will take over in what shall be remarkable milestone in Giggs’ scintillating career at his boyhood club.

The Dutchman also reiterated his confidence in the new signing and believes that Ryan Giggs will greatly benefit from it in the future as manager of the club. He also admitted that he was glad to have added Giggs as his assistant after a meeting with him in Netherlands last year, before taking over the reigns at Manchester United.

He was speaking to an audience of United’s executive season ticket holders at Lancashire County Cricket ground.

"It was a ridiculous amount of money, but it's the crazy world we are in,’ said Van Gaal, as quoted by Goal.com.

"United are routinely quoted £10m more for a player but I have not bought Martial for me. I have bought him for the next manager of Manchester United."

And sitting alongside Giggs, who spent a 24-year trophy laden career at Manchester United, Van Gaal added: "And I feel I am introducing the next manager of Manchester United."
