The fuel treatment plant can produce a mere 250MW electricity, instead of its original capacity of 425MW.
Federal Minister for Defence, Water and Power Khawaja Mohammad Asif said that the Nandipur power project would be completed soon, adding that its administration would be made accountable.
Asif said that the machinery of Nandipur power project could not be run to its full capacity of 425MW due to technical faults in the fuel treatment plant that was purchased by the previous government. “When the reliability test run of the plant was conducted in June, we came to know that the fuel treatment plant can produce a mere 250MW electricity, instead of its original capacity of 425MW,” said Asif.
Pakistan electric power company’s engineers are working to enhance the generation capacity of the project, he added
“The contract of the operational maintenance of the plant would be given through a transparent procedure.” He added that he would be able to announce the definite time period for the completion of the project in a few days.
