Former Speaker National Assembly has challenged the Election Tribunal decision asking for re-election in NA-122. PTI chairman Imran Khan had filed the petition against Ayaz Sadiq alleging rigging in 2013.
“The party has decided to contest the case in Supreme Court,” PTI information secretary Naeemul Haq said in a statement. While giving details, Haq said that party chairman Imran Khan had asked Hamid Khan to follow the case and become party before the court. Hamid Khan has formally submitted an application before the SC seeking permission of becoming party, he added.
Meanwhile, PTI National Organizer Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the party will contest the local body elections independently. They will not form an alliance with any political party, he stated. “PTI is a political party which was cast 7.8 million votes in May 2013 elections,” he said, citing a strong vote base of the party.
He said that PTI’s ideology and vision for naya Pakistan distinguishes it from others and has support amongst the masses of Pakistan.
