Blaze: Fire erupts in garment factory

KARACHI: A fire erupted on the first floor of a garment factory, JB Enterprises, near Ghani Chowrangi, SITE, on Tuesday. It took two and a half hours to extinguish the fire with the help of seven fire tenders, two water bowsers and a snorkel, said a fire brigade official. “The first fire tender, after reaching the location, informed others that it was a second degree fire,” said the official. “Therefore, more fire tenders were sent from the SITE, Lyari, Nazimabad, Baldia Town fire stations.” The firemen were late because of the heavy traffic on roads, he added. The reason for the fire and estimated loss have yet to be determined.
