Community service: Police asked to serve humanity

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam in a review meeting held here on Sunday directed all police officials to ensure timely response to people’s grievances.

“Policing is a service oriented job and every police official must serve humanity with devotion.” Reviewing performance of various police circles, he directed the police officials to improve their performances and fix timings to listen to people’s complaints. He said that First Information Reports (FIR) must be registered at police stations on merit and without delay. “Any official found delaying or refusing to register genuine cases will not be spared,” he added.

The IGP also directed all Superintendents of Police to monitor registration of cases in their respective circles.

“The purpose of these steps is to strengthen relations between police and the community and inculcate friendly police ecology in the capital through people’s cooperation,” he said. He said that three Ladies Complaint Units in three police stations have been set up to facilitate women in registering complaints with the police without any fear.
