LAHORE:

Representatives of 25 partner schools of the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) New School Programme met with PEF Chairman Qamarul Islam Raja on Monday.

They discussed their problems, including delayed payments.

The chairman assured them that their concerns would be taken up with the relevant authorities.

Raja said agreements had been signed with seven NGOs to open schools in areas identified by the School Education Department and verified by the foundation. “The PEF launched the New School Programme to provide free education to students in far-flung areas,” he said.

He said the programme was promoting girls’ education.

“The initiative has helped the deserving girls transform their lives.” He said the PEF ensured that students get good quality education. For the purpose, he said, teachers’ training programmes had been introduced.
