Stop running after BCCI, Javed Miandad tells PCB

Legendary batsman says PCB should not give up its self-respect in pursuit of series with India

Former Pakistan captain and coach Javed Miandad urged on Sunday the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to stop pleading the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India to resume bilateral ties.

Miandad said the provoking statements given by Indian leaders and ministers were unfortunate and would not help Indo-Pak cricket relations.

“I don’t think these inflammatory statements are a true reflection of the feelings of the Indian masses towards Pakistan and they are not helping us move forward in improving ties,” Miandad said, according to the Press Trust of India.

Further, Miandad said given the shifty attitude of the Indian cricket board towards the India-Pakistan series, it is wiser for the PCB to stop running after them and instead focus on organising series against other teams.

“Pakistan has always been superior to India in cricket and we have more raw cricketing talent compared to them. Their cricket is surviving on money and commercialism,” the legendary batsman stated.

“It is good if both countries can resume bilateral ties but not at the cost of our self—respect and pride,” he added.

See that pretty much is the worth of Pakistani news papers and in fact it is those jobless Indians , who are life line of online revenue for Pakistani news papers. No wonder you guys have at least one story about BCCI/IPL and one "opinion" on Modi pretty much every other day.

Pak/ India cricket matches are one of THE most profitable sport series in the world. Every time is a full house. Its never friendly, so people who think its a way to promote friendship are wrong, in-fact it sort of a nonviolent war where both sides can vent their anger at each other. Its really a profit for both sides and a fun time for viewers as well. But if BCCI wants to act childish then so be it.

Tepper | 9 years ago | Reply He is right. PCB is trying their level best to get to play with India. But then it is PCB, not Pakistan. Just like any other corporate organization, PCB will also do things that would help it generate money. A series with India can generate twice the money that other series combined can generate.This is a fact, there is no hiding from it. India is where the cricketing money comes from. So, it makes business sense to play with India. I think PCB should continue to get India to play with it. PCB is not standing outside the BCCI headquarters with a begging bowl. So, i don't think PCB has put Pakistan's self respect at stake in any way.

However, I would not go to the extent of saying we are better than India so that is why we should not care for BCCI. Remember, we cannot play cricket in our own country like all the other cricket playing nations...this is the bottom line. We need to focus on "Raw Talent"...yes...put together a team where the team can gel together. Make sure the security conditions in Pakistan improve so other international teams start playing in Pakistan...then we are ready to thumb our noses at India...not until then.
