Muzakkar Muanas: Satire on love set to be staged
Protagonists are revolutionaries who want to change the system
LAHORE:
“The play Muzakkar Muanas is a satire on the poetic perception of love,” Shah Fahad, the writer and producer of the play told The Express Tribune on Friday.
Slated to be staged on Saturday (tomorrow), the play revolves around three characters, Bilawal, Javed and Sadia.
Bilawal and Javed are two friends who run a website dedicated to fighting the system.
“They are revolutionaries who are not happy with the way society functions,” said Fahad. He said problems arise in their relationship with the arrival in their apartment complex of a patriotic Pakistani hockey player, Sadia. Sadia moves into an apartment below that of the two boys.
Fahad said that the play stands against the filmy notions of love showcased on celluloid.
“The play shows that love is nothing but fleeting physical attraction,” he said.
The play was also staged last year at Alhamra Cultural Complex. “It is primarily the response from the audience that compelled us to stage the play again. It received alot praise last year,” Fahad said.
Faheem Muzaffar has directed the play. It has been produced by Dramaducation. The theatre group has been working for three years. This is their 5th production. The play will be staged on September 5 and 6 at 3:30pm.
