RAWALPINDI:

District leaders of Jamaat Ahle Sunnat (JAS) will hold a ‘Pakistan Paindabaad’ rally in Rawalpindi on Saturday (today) to show their support for the Pakistan Army.

The party leaders also expressed support for Operation Zarb-e-Azb and said a terror-free Pakistan is in the interest of the world.

JAS district head Ameer Mufti Mohammad, along with other senior leaders, expressed their views at the Express Forum in Rawalpindi. They said in the September 6, 1965 war, Pakistan set an example of bravery by resisting an attack by a much larger force, and showed the world no one can defeat Pakistan.

Today, as the country battles terrorism and extremism, the same spirit is needed, they added. The rally will begin at 2:30pm from Chungi 22 and culminate at Fowara Chowk.

JAS, one of the largest religious parties following the Barelvi school of thought, had called for a boycott of the funeral prayers for slain Punjab Governor Salman Taseer and praised his convicted killer, Mumtaz Qadri.
