Locals believe donkey carcasses are exported and their meat is sold to restaurants and hotels. However, what is actually happening to the donkeys remains an enigma. At this critical juncture, the police are still trying to peel back the layers of mystery and get to the bottom of the situation.
A police official told The Express Tribune Kausar Bibi, a resident of the area, was arrested for slaughtering a donkey while a man managed to escape.
“Following the incident, Parowa SHO Fazal Rahim had told the media police recovered a slaughtered donkey,” he said. “Knives of all shapes and sizes were also found from Kausar’s possession.
An FIR has been registered and police is investigating the matter.”
A similar incident came to the fore in February. Gomel police arrested two people in Joke Kalar, Parowa who were involved in slaughtering donkeys and selling them to restaurants. At least 20 donkeys were recovered from their possession. As a result, the police have decided to take the matter seriously and take the culprits to task.
