BAHALWALPUR: President of the Transgender Association, Almas Bobby accused the Punjab government of neglecting the hijra community and overlooking a murder case.

Bobby addressed a large gathering of the hijra community at the Eidgah Ground in Bahawalpur on Friday. Bobby complained that following the murder of hijra Amjad Resham no one had organised a funeral for Resham. “The hijra community will organise funeral rites for Resham,” Bobby said. She said that police officials were also pressuring her and others to drop the case seeking justice for Resham.“The provincial government seems extremely moved by the plight of assault victims and flood victims but we have been victimised since the day we were born. No one seems to care,” Bobby said. Bobby organised a large Quran Khwani for Resham and distributed food among people of the area in her name.
