KARACHI: The cream of the designer crop took centre stage at the recently held Magnum Party, which took place at the Area 51 Marquee in the city. Five designer heavyweights showcased their chocolate-inspired collections as the evening progressed, with chocolate brown emerging as the favourite colour of the evening. Featuring materials such as silk, net and lace, the collection was chock full of eye-catching designs and silhouettes.

Shehla Chatoor’s collection included long off-shoulder dresses, all in different shades of brown and materials, such as raw silk, net and lace. A particularly striking brown dress was laden with glimmering motifs of the chocolate-coated ice cream.

Khadijah Shah of Élan rocked the night with her range titled ‘Chocolate Decadence’, which featured pieces printed with splashes of chocolate. The printed gowns had embellished belts that added lustre to them. The chunky gold accessories completed the looks.

Only a few can translate trendy into their offerings like designer Maheen Karim. Showcasing brown as the ‘it’ colour this autumn/winter, she showed a series of jumpsuits, cocktail dresses and gowns. The colour palette featured shades of brown, deep orange and caramel.

Staying true to the theme of the event, Nomi Ansari presented a collection boasting hues of brown. From cocktail dresses to long gowns to the scarves, his collection exuded earthy feel of the upcoming autumn/winter season, barring one piece with an unsightly and antithetical combination of colours, such as yellow, green and peach.

Republic by Omar Farooq showcased a host of sartorial choices for men. With shades, such as brown, beige and orange, the two- and three-piece suits made a statement on the ramp. The colour palette shone through the pieces and left our fashion taste buds tantalised.
