We are left with no choice but to turn to the last resort of indefinite strike from Sept 1

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF) President Mian Zahid Hussain said that the government must reconsider the eight per cent levy on turnover of the services sector, which contributes a mammoth 53% to the country’s GDP, lest it falls apart hurting international trade and fanning unemployment. The PBIF chief said that the tax should always be on earnings and not on revenue as it goes against the philosophy of taxation. “We have been meeting top officials to apprise them of the problems but to no avail. We are left with no choice but to turn to the last resort of indefinite strike from Sept 1. The government would bear sole responsibility for all the economic losses during the strike,” said Hussain.
