HASSAN ABDAL:

The Hassanabdal police have registered a case against Masood Ahmed for allegedly driving his wife to commit suicide. Police said Irfa Masood, a mother of a five-month-old, had shot herself at her house in Hussar Village on Wednesday night.

She was taken to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead. During investigation, Irfa’s parents told the investigation officer that Masood used to beat her up. They said she took her own life as she was unable to bear the ‘daily torture’ she was forced to live with. The deceased’s parents told the police that Irfa had married Masood 18 months ago but the couple developed differences soon after owing to various issues.

Irfa’s father added that his daughter visited his house in Golra four days ago and she seemed stressed due to her husband’s behaviour with her. He said on Wednesday, he was informed that Irfa is ill and when he reached her house he found her lying dead in what appeared to be a case of suicide.

He pleaded with the authorities that his daughter was forced ‘to commit suicide’. The police have launched a manhunt to arrest Masood.
