Consecutive days: Tribal elder killed in IED blast

SHABQADAR:

A tribal elder was killed in an improvised explosive device attack in Chamarkand area of Nawagai sub-division, Bajaur Agency on Friday morning. According to a political administration official in Khar, pro-government elder Malik Bahlol was travelling in the area when the bomb, planted by unidentified militants, went off.

Bahlol died on the spot. Immediately after the attack, law-enforcement agencies cordoned the area off and started a search operation. No arrests were made till the filing of this report. Jamaatul Ahrar has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Pro-government tribal elders have been under fire in the agency recently. The attack is the second of its kind in the area on the second consecutive day. On Thursday morning, a tribal elder was killed in the same tehsil.
