KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah said on Friday the army chief had praised the cleanliness in the city, Express News reported.

“While attending a meeting, General Raheel Sharif said to me that he could see the difference in Karachi as far as 'cleanliness' was concerned,” the chief minister said while inaugurating the newly built underpass on the Kashif Centre intersection on Sharah-e-Faisal.

The Rs580 million underpass, Shah said, was “completed in a very short span of time.”

He also said that it didn’t matter how much money was spent on such projects as long as people were being served and facilitated.

“Karachi is an important city of Pakistan due to which people from all over the world come here,” he said.

The chief minister also said that the Yellow-line, Green-line and other such transport projects are in the pipeline and are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

“With two and half year left for us, we will make Karachi one of the cleanest cities so that tourists can come here and praise the atmosphere.”

Commenting on the recent arrest of  Dr Asim Hussain, the incumbent chairman of Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC), Shah said that he had spoken with the Corps Commander on the issue.

The chief minister said that he had also spoken to DG Rangers, who had told him that there was evidence against Dr Asim.

David | 9 years ago | Reply The Hotel Mehran intersection underpass is built, but they have destroyed all the Green Belts, and cut down all the trees surrounding the underpass and its service lanes. What cleanliness is he talking about, Karachi looks like a filthy place to travel and live.
