Tragic: Child raped, murdered

BAHAWALPUR: A five-year-old boy was raped and killed by unidentified people in Khanpur late on Wednesday. Police said the child was playing in front of his house in Sadiqabad Akbar Colony when he was abducted. The abductors took the child to a secluded area and raped him. They later clubbed the child to death and dumped the body in a field.

Khanpur City police took the body to a mortuary for post mortem and later handed the body over to his family. Thousands of people attended the funeral prayers held for the child in Dirpur Sharif. Police said they had registered a complaint filed by the boy’s father, a journalist.

Police said they have arrested a man suspected to be involved in the heinous crime and are interrogating him. They did not reveal his name.
