MUZAFFARABAD:

Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhary Abdul Majeed on Tuesday led a rally against unprovoked firing by the Indian army on the working boundary and line of control (LoC).

The PM along with government and opposition members of the AJK legislative assembly and a large number of citizens took to the streets against India’s repeated violations and continued aggression. AJK Cabinet members and members of legislative assembly (MLAs) were also in protest.

PM Majeed and opposition leader Farooq Haider Khan jointly presented a memorandum to the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan. The memo appealed to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to use his office to stop the ceasefire violations at the LoC.

Rehabilitation Minister Abdul Majid Khan said the protest rally headed by the PM and opposition leader was ample proof that both federal and provincial, and civil and military leaderships were on the same page regarding the Kashmir dispute.

Opposition Leader Raja Farooq Haider Khan said that for the last 20 years, All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders regularly met with Pakistani officials as well as leaders in New Delhi. He said there was nothing unusual about being invited by the Pakistani high commission in Delhi for the first time.

The rigidity of New Delhi with regards to APHC meetings with National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz does not bode well for regional peace, Haider added.
