KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is going to march from the Quaid’s mazaar to Garhi Khuda Bux to commemorate the third death anniversary of former prime minister of Pakistan and chairperson of the PPP, Benazir Bhutto.

The rally will start at 11 am on Sunday and move towards Larkana, said Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister for Information Sharmila Farooqui at the Karachi Press Club on Friday.

The procession will be led by PPP Youth Wing, Sindh president Ajiz Dhamrah, Shabbir Ahmed Memon, Peoples Students Federation, Sindh president Suhrab Marri and PPP women’s wing, Sindh president Shagufta Jumani.

Thousands of PPP activists and supporters will travel in buses and reach Garhi Khuda Bux on December 27, to pay homage to Benazir Bhutto. “The rally will change the negative perception that people have about PPP workers being isolated and separate from the party,” said Farooqui, adding that this was the day to remember Benazir’s sacrifices for Pakistan.

The participants of the rally will stay in Khairpur city for the night and next morning, on December 27, they would leave Khairpur and reach Garhi Khuda Bux around 2 pm.

Relatives of missing  persons appeal for help

After the conference, when Farooqui was going to her car, she was intercepted by a group of women who had come to hold a press conference on the case of a young man, Hasnain Abbas, who has been missing since Muharram 10.

Sobbing and holding on to the photographs of the missing youth, they begged Farooqui for help.

“We had only one brother. Our parents have already left this world, he was the only breadwinner in the family who protected us and kept us happy. He was snatched away from us, where should we go? Who will bring him back?”

The sisters said that Abbas had gone missing from Orangi town on Muharram 10 and they have no idea where he could be. The mother of Rafat Abbas, another youth missing since Muharram 10, told Farooqui that she had one son who was her only support. “I have no money, no sources to recover my son,” the elderly woman cried. Later the women held a press conference and appealed to the president and prime minister for help.
