SHANGLA:

The two-day long cultural festival concluded at the Government Degree College, Alpuri in Shangla on Sunday. Shangla DC Saadat Hussain and several other notables and government officials were present on the occasion.

Pashto singers Karan Khan, Almas Khalil, Ayaz Khan and several others performed at the closing ceremony. Various skits, comedy sessions and other entertaining activities were also part of the event.

Talking on the occasion, Hussain said the festival was very well received and the outside world got to know more about the beautiful district. He said more programmes of similar nature will now be organised. He urged local elders to play their role in making Shangla a modern tourist attraction.

He thanked several NGOs like Shangla Youth Front for collaborating with the government and making the event possible. “We will organise a festival of this kind on Independence Day every year.” He also announced another event to be organised in Bisham in two months.

Some tourists complained about their treatment at the hands of Shangla police during the festival. They said the department’s performance is bringing a bad name to the entire district.
