The ‘master trainer workshop’, being conducted by the Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS) and the CIIT in collaboration with the Balochistan government and the National Testing Service, aims at keeping the university teachers abreast with current trends in areas such as curriculum development, assessment and evaluation, microteaching and research methodology, academic writing, classroom management, communication and presentation skills, said a press release issued here on Monday. The workshop will continue till September. Around 22 faculty members of six universities of Balochistan are attending the workshop.

CM Malik Baloch said “pre-service and in-service training workshops are very essential for capacity-building and professional grooming of the university faculty. In addition, in this age of information and communication technology, skill development of teachers is vital”.

Speaking on the occasion, CM’s education adviser Sardar Raza Barrech said such workshops will be helpful in improving the quality of teaching and research in the higher education sector of the province.

IUCPSS Chairman and Haripur University Vice-Chancellor Dr Nasser Ali Khan underlined the importance of continuous faculty development programmes, especially for universities situated in far-flung areas of the country.

CIIT Rector Dr Junaid Zaidi said they will continue to support such initiatives aiming at strengthening higher education in Balochistan.
