Facilitating the disabled: Dept to register visually impaired people

The minister directed the district officers to collect the data and send it to the headquarters

LAHORE: The Social Welfare Department will collect information on visually challenged people over the next three weeks, Minister for Social Welfare Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari said on Sunday. He was presiding over a meeting at the Directorate General of Social Welfare and Baitul Maal. Social Welfare Secretary Haroon Rafiq, Social Welfare Director General Muhammad Yasrab Hinjra, Social Protection Authority CEO Dr Sohail Chaudhry and Programme Director Waqar Azeem and social welfare officers from all districts attended the meeting. The minister directed the district officers to collect the data and send it to the headquarters. He said officers should use newspapers, radio and cable network to ask the visually-impaired people to get themselves registered with the department.
