HYDERABAD:
Nationalist leaders have asked the government to continue their security operation in Karachi without caving in to the demands and complaints of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). "They are talking about dividing Sindh but the fact is that they want to divide the country and have been involved in conspiracies against its integrity," said Dr Qadir Magsi, chairperson of the Sindh Taraqi Pasand party, in a statement.

He called for adopting a clear and coherent policy against the alleged terrorism of the MQM and enforcing a ban on the party. Magsi warned the MQM that the people of Sindh were ready to protect their motherland. "We view this not as a piece of land, but our motherland," he said.

The Qaumi Awami Tehreek also criticised the MQM for what they said is an attack on Pakistan's integrity and Sindh's unity. "The MQM wants to create a new Israel in Pakistan," said Ayaz Latif Palijo, QAT's president, in a press statement. Palijo, while condemning the party's demand, said whenever the MQM's conspiracies against Pakistan are exposed, the party resorts to calling for a separate province.

He demanded that the resignations of the MQM's legislators be immediately accepted and free and fair by-elections be held on these seats.
