Pakistan Ulema Council (PUC) chairman Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said on Saturday that promoting solidarity among the people and promoting debate between various religions and sects was the basic purpose of his Nada-i-Pakistan campaign.
Ashrafi made the remarks while addressing a training session in Sahiwal. He said the nation had been making all out efforts for peace in Afghanistan. Ashrafi said Pakistan had also been holding talks with India in a bid for peace.
The PUC chairman said some forces wanted to create chaos and fuel sectarian conflict. He said the designs of such elements could be foiled by unity.
Ashrafi said mosques and religious seminaries would continue to support the government till the National Action Plan had been effectively implemented. Ashrafi said the Nada-i-Pakistan conference would be held in Karachi on August 24. He said representatives of various schools of thought would participate in the event.
