Many people thronged to the district to escape the blazing heat and participate in the festivities. Shangla DC Saadat Hassan inaugurated the festival.
An official of the district administration told The Express Tribune the festival was aimed at highlighting the rich cultural legacy of the region and providing a platform for a range of entertaining activities.
Stellar performances
Students from various schools also participated in the event. They sang patriotic songs and delivered breathtaking dance performances. A series of musical performances and poetry recitals were also held.
A majority of performances received applause and appreciation. Some members of the audience sang along and gave an enthusiastic response to the students.
Gateway to culture
The organisers also set up various stalls where a diverse menu of cultural artefacts was put on display. Gemstones, antiques and clothes were showcased. Food stalls were also set up. A large number of tourists, who had come from various parts of the country, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Hassan said those who are participating in the festival will be taken for a tour of the picnic spots in the region. “A musical night and plenty of other activities have also been planned for them,” he said. “We hope they will visit Shangla again.”
