Military courts: Petition demands judicial review

ISLAMABAD:
A petition has been moved in the Supreme Court, requesting to provide one judicial review to all the convicts of military courts whether they are regular members of armed forces or civilians. Lt Col (retd) Inamul Rahim Advocate filed the petition on Thursday under Article 184(3) of Constitution and based his arguments on Army Amendment Act 2015 and 21st Amendment. The petitioner states that three groups were awarded death sentences by the Military Courts in recent past. “None was allowed to engage a counsel and to lead witnesses in their defence and at the end all were denied the trial proceedings,” the petitioner said.
