Explosive material: Life term for ‘terrorist’

An anti-terrorism court awarded a life term on Thursday to a suspect involved in an explosive material case. The court ordered all movable and immovable property of Khurram Shahzad to be confiscated and fined him Rs10,000.

The court ordered him to be imprisoned for one additional year if he failed to pay the fine. ATC-IV Judge Syed Muzaffar Ali Shah announced the verdict following the completion of arguments. Shahzad, a resident of Gujjar Khan, was arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department in May from Lorry Adda area. Officials had seized four kilogrammes of explosive material, a hand-grenade among other devices from him. A case had been registered by the department under the Explosives Act and a challan was submitted at the court by the department.
