Quackery: 35 clinics sealed in Peshawar

They had no relevant certifications in their respective fields

PESHAWAR: At least 35 illegal medical clinics were sealed and owners of the health facilities were issued arrest warrants in Peshawar’s two famous bazaars on Wednesday. On the directive issued by Deputy Commissioner Peshawar Riaz Khan Mehmood, the authorities raided a number of dental dispensaries located on the University Board Bazaar, sealing five clinics where two Afghan nationals were among the untrained staff running the facilities.  They had no relevant certifications in their respective fields. They were also not registered with the Health Regulatory Authority (HRA). However, only three health facilities possessed the required documents and doctors’ degrees. On the other hand, at least 30 clinics were also closed down in Khyber Bazaar which were also found to be playing with the health of people in the neighbourhood. Additional Commissioner Osama Waraich, Assistant Commissioner UT Shahana Shakir, Additional Assistant Commissioner Abdul Nabi Bangash were part of the teams who carried out the raids.
