ISLAMABAD:

Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani has said he will help resolve concerns of the lawyers’ community, and ensure the improved administration of justice for the public.

Rabbani was speaking to a 14-member delegation from the newly-elected body of the Lahore High Court Bar Association Rawalpindi Bench. The chairman urged delegates to assist in lawmaking at the Senate by proposing amendments.

Rabbani said the Senate was considering steps to ensure speedy and inexpensive justice across the country in a committee of the whole house scheduled for Wednesday. The chair said the committee had invited input from renowned lawyers and retired judges, and also asked the delegation to nominate exceptional lawyers for short and long-term internships at the Senate.

Sheikh Suleman, president of the bar association, had earlier told the chairman of the challenges faced by lawyers, and of a planned nation-wide seminar on reforms to the judicial system.
