The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Balochistan unearthed a corruption scam in a project meant for the catastrophe-battered areas of the province, recovering Rs7.752 million from corrupt employees of the livestock department. Animal Health Coverage Programme was initiated by the prime minister for people of the calamity-stricken area of Balochistan in 2009. The employees of livestock department embezzled Rs7.752 million by supplying substandard medicines to the people of disaster-hit areas causing huge loss to the national exchequer. The provincial accountability authority, after completing its inquiry into the scam, recovered the looted money from the corrupt employees of the livestock department. Director General NAB Balochistan Maj (retd) Tariq Mehmood Malik handed over a cheque of Rs5,214,000 to DG livestock during a ceremony held at NAB office in Quetta. Earlier, an amount of Rs600,000 was also given to the same department.
