Reserved seat falls : PPP MNA Alizeh resigns from seat

Once a reserve seat falls vacant, the next person in the list from that party is notified by ECP as lawmaker

Dr Shazia Sobia has replaced Alizeh Iqbal Haider as member national assembly on Pakistan Peoples Party ticket from Sindh province.


Alizeh who was elected on a reserved seat for women after the 2013 general elections had resigned from national assembly last week citing personal reasons. She is spokesperson for PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.


Dr Shazia Sobia belongs to Pano Akil in district Sukkur. Under the rules before general elections all the parties taking part in the polls submit their list carrying nominees on reserved seats with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The reserved seats are allocated to parties from the list in the descending order with proportion to the seats they win in the general elections.


Once a reserve seat falls vacant, the next person in the list from that party is notified by ECP as lawmaker.
