LAHORE: Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema said on Tuesday that the traffic police will launch a city-wide crackdown against juvenile drivers in the city from September 1. Addressing a press conference, he said the traffic police had evolved a comprehensive strategy to discourage youngsters, who weren’t old enough to obtain driving licences, from driving. He said they would set up awareness campaigns and hold seminars to raise awareness about the dangers of under-age driving. He said in the last few weeks, the traffic police have taken action against 68,965 vehicles caught violating traffic rules and 26,910 vehicles that didn’t have number plates. Additionally, cases have been registered against 926 youngsters caught stunt riding, he said.
