Police registers case for Khanzada attack

Late Punjab home minister,16 others were killed when two suicide bombers blew themselves up near his political office

Police have registered a case following a deadly attack at Home Minister Punjab Shuja Khanzada’s political office in Attock on Sunday which left him along with 16 others dead.

The case was registered on behalf of Station House Office Rangu Ghulab Shabbir and included provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act, Sections 7, 427, 324, 436 and 302, Section 16 of Pakistan Protection Act, provisions of Explosives Act, murder and attempted murder, Express News reported.

Khanzada, Deputy Superintendent Police Shaukat Shah and 16 other people were killed when two suicide bombers blew themselves up near the late home minister’s political office in Shadi Khan village of Attock.

UN, EU condemn incident

Condemnations of the heinous act continued on Monday as United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon called for bringing the culprits to justice, Radio Pakistan reported.

Asserting that “nothing justifies terrorism”, Ban said he sympathised with the government of Pakistan and its people, the bereaved families and wished those injured an early recovery.

Separately, the European Union, besides denouncing the heinous act, conveyed sympathies to the families of those killed.
