“Like his name he was a brave and an honest person who laid down his life for the defence of the country,” Shahbaz said, during the cabinet meeting of the Punjab government.

“The nation will always remember the historic sacrifice of Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada,” he added.
Shahbaz said the Punjab government had already announced A three-day mourning over Khanzada’s tragic demise. “We will recommend the federal government to confer the highest civilian award to him.”
Further, the chief minister vowed to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country, adding that he will lead the war against terrorism from the front.
“We will make an example out of these terrorists,” Shahbaz said. “We promise that we will not rest until the elimination of terrorism.”

“Fight against terrorism might be difficult but is not impossible,” the chief minister added. “Today, the Punjab government has a great responsibility and we will have to defeat the menace of terrorism through unity in our ranks.”
On Sunday, Shuja Khanzada, along with 16 others, was killed in a suicide blast at his political office in Shadi Khan near Attock.

Khanzada, 71, had been holding a meeting with local people. He was trapped with several others under the rubble after the blast brought down the roof of the house.
