The Punjab governor, ministers and MPAs strongly condemned the suicide attack in Attock on Sunday and expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of Home Minister Col (r) Shuja Khanzada.


Governor Rafiq Rajwana condemned the attack. “Khanzada was a patriot who was striving to do everything to defeat terrorists in the province. His services for the country will never be forgotten,” he said.

Punjab Assembly Speaker Rana Iqbal and Deputy Speaker Sher Ali Gorchani condemned the Attock attack. “Khanzada was making an invaluable contribution to the fight against terrorists in the province. The country has lost an honest and patriotic politician,” they said.


Evacuee Trust Property Board Chairman Muhammad Siddiqul Farooq condemned the attack. “The terrorists are the enemies of the country and its people. The government will continue its efforts to rid the country of terrorists,” he said.

Ministers Raja Ashfaq Sarwar, Chaudhry Sher Ali, Bilal Yasin, Syed Haroon Sultan Bukhari, Malik Iqbal Channar, Atta Muhammad Maneka, Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Dr Farrukh Javed, Hameeda Waheedud Din, Begum Zakia Shahnawaz, Malik Nadeem Kamran, Malik Muhammad Asif, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Rana Arshad Jutt and MPA Zaeem Hussain Qadri expressed sorrow over Khanzada’s death.

Jamaat-i-Islami chief Senator Sirajul Haq paid a rich tribute to Khanzada. “He was a brave, courageous and honest man who sacrificed his life for the country,” he said.

Pakistan People’s Party Lahore president Samina Khalid Ghurki condemned the attack. “The attack raises questions about the government’s efforts to eliminate terrorism,” she said.

Religious leaders Allama Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Syed Sajid Ali Naqvi and Allama Arif Hussain Wahdi also condemned the attack.
