BAHAWALPUR: A tower clock of Government Sadiq Dane High School building near Farid Gate was replaced on Friday.  Provincial Assembly Member (MPA) Syed Waseem Akhtar, Minister for Cooperatives Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar, Commissioner Saqib Zafar and DCO Imran Sikandar Baloch inaugurated the clock.  It was followed by a fireworks display and a performance by the Cholistan Orchestra.

Channar told newsmen that the high school building had been completed in 1906. He said the clock, made by the British Big Bang Company, was erected on the tower in 1922.  Channar said the clock had broken down 30 years ago. “Several attempts were made to fix it but it could not be repaired.” He said last year, the commissioner had taken the initiative to replace it.
